Her Queen? Oven baked Tench!
It can be found on a hill on the Southern shore of the Iseo Lake. With Roman origins, this ancient fishermens borough where time has left behind all its traditions, especially those gastronomically inclined. In fact every year the town opens its doors to visitors for the Festival of the Oven Baked Tench and the Festival of the Aole, typical fish from this Sebino Lake. A simple dish but cooked in a manner that exalts the quality of its ingredients. Tourist attractions include the Carmagnola Castle with its covered frescoed porches surrounded by defensive walls. The parish of Christ the Saviour, overlooking the lake, can be found in the centre of this ancient borough surrounded by a square typical of the ‘700. The chapels and the altars are rich in bronze statues and stained glass windows. Behind the urban development of this town extends fields where in times gone by were used to cultivate cereals of varying types, grape vines, and mulberries and which leads up to Monte Alto with unspoilt forests and green meadows to enjoy. Along the lake front, typical fishing boats called “naet”, reminiscent of Venetian gondolas, are moored.
